Artist Statement

Although there were no seamstresses or quilters in my family, I started sewing at a young age. Self-taught, I started making dolls clothes with whatever fabric I could get my hands on.  As I grew, fabric and experimentation also grew.
Today, my journey to grow and move forward in the Fibre Art world includes taking dreams I have and turning them into my expressions of art through the use of fibre, threads, fabrics, yarns and beading. 

My hope is to provide the viewer with an experience, an emotion, or a remembrance that they too, hold dear in their hearts or minds.

Tuscan Villa V

This is the 5th in a very popular series inspired by pictures I have taken while traveling through parts of Italy, Tuscany in particular. The peaceful countryside dotted with the occasional ornate villa became a common theme for a series of works, prompted by commission requests and my love for the various techniques, including “snippets” and applique.
Machine Quilted and hand embroidery. 100% cotton with Lame.

Mother Nature

When I was given the theme of "Woman" from the Breast Cancer Support Group, I immediately thought of Mother Nature, the greatest "woman" I know. Both Mother Nature and Women in general, have a nurturing quality that is unique.  Both with many faces, many moods, ever changing; be it seasons or circumstance; each adapting. Today we are ever mindful of their struggles, for survival against the odds, with both bravely marching forward. My hope is that my work will bring that one moment of peace, calm and serenity that we all look for in a day, to those who view it"; framed and matted under glass.

I miniaturized the technique of Convergence into this small enchanting piece, adding netting, silk flowers, beads and embellishments. (Picture taken on Navy backdrop)

Masquerade Theatre

  The Masks of Venice and the lure of theatre (what's behind those masks?) are pure Fantasy to me.  In Venice, each mask is handmade using the time honored skill of paper and glue.  The artist painstakingly moulds each piece adding details along the way until the magic is evident.  Haven't we each "Fantasized" about being behind a mask such as these.....just once?
