I learned to sew clothing as a child, progressing to the stage where tailoring jackets and coats and sewing silk wedding dresses were not daunting propositions. I first worked on appliquéd wall hangings when I was at home with a toddler some 30 years ago. Since then I have dabbled in upholstery, theatre costume design and photography. Now I have discovered a way to incorporate all those skills into designing and making art quilts. My small art projects use elements of photography, digital painting, machine appliqué and embroidery to bring life to fragments of time. |
